The field work in order of identification and characterization of  yew occurrence sites, conducted by elements of Quercus and the Centro de Estudos Geográficos - Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território da Universidade de Lisboa, it was possible to identify the existence of two new  female specimen in an existing core in Zêzere valley in Manteigas.

The yew is a dioecious species, meaning there are male and female individuals, it cannot reproduce if the opposite sex does not exist nearby, so this discovery improves the possibilities of perpetuating the species and increasing habitat area in the surrounding area.
